Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot | Premier
MR HULOT GOES ON HOLIDAY
(in French with Hungarian subtitles)
black-and-white, subtitled, French film, 83’, 1953
directed by: Jacques Tati
starring: Jacques Tati, Nathalie Pascaud
***Not recommended for children under six!***
This time, Mr Hulot visits one of the French people’s favourite holiday destinations: the coast of Brittany. Although he could be carved into a statue of goodwill, wherever he goes, chaos, turmoil and scandal follow in his wake; his curious gaze reveals the flip side of things to us in a hilariously witty manner. Jacques Tati, one of the great classics of French comedy cinema, launched his famous Hulot series with this film, in which he himself plays the bumbling, melancholic clown of the title, in the style of the great silent-film comedians.

Bem Cinema
In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
