Várhegyutca: MAXIHESSZ! // Akvárium

2027-01-15T18:00:00.000Z

We often find ourselves facing the same dilemma after a gig: we want to keep the night going with you, but where can we all fit? And where can we actually stay?

We’ve filled entire metro trains to the point where tourists thought a protest was going on, then taken over Margaret Island. There have even been places where the whole gang hadn’t even made it inside before we were already being kicked out.

So, to finally solve this problem, we’ve come up with something a little different: after the concert, we’re staying right there at the venue, where you can hang out with us, meet up, chat, have a drink, and keep the party going.

Exactly how we’re making this happen — and which special guests will join us — shall remain shrouded in mystery for now.

One thing’s for sure: MAXIHESSZ TILL DAWN!

Schedule

Várhegyutca is an experimental ethnofunk band whose ten young musicians create a liberating, communal atmosphere through a joyful musical journey across genres from around the world. Their music gives emotions room to unfold, inviting audiences to dance them out — sometimes with elemental force.

The band is an active part of Budapest’s club scene, while regularly performing at venues and festivals across Hungary. They have played three sold-out shows at the House of Music Hungary, and in 2026 shared the stage with Borbély Mihály and Földes László Hobo.

Alongside professional recognition, including appearances at Music Hungary Showcase and support from the National Cultural Fund of Hungary (NKA), the band is especially grateful for the opportunity to perform on major stages in 2026 alongside artists who have been important sources of inspiration to them, such as Bohemian Betyars, Duckshell, Besh o droM and Aurevoir. These opportunities also brought the band to Budapest Park.

Location

Akvárium

As they describe themselves, it is Budapest's most frequented venue, which is also multifunctional. Akvárium is great for award ceremonies, afternoon coffees and, most importantly, concerts, thanks to the well-picked, cross-genre selection.
