NONHUMANS – Diana Terjék’s exhibition
Enter the world of mutants, hybrids, and grotesque creatures from Diána Terjék’s personal monster mythology. Through oil paintings and monster portraits, NONHUMANS explores a unique universe inspired by nature, anime, Japanese kaiju culture, and body horror.
Nyolcésfél, Budapest
Opening: October 31, 2026, at 6 PM
On view until November 6, daily from 7–9 PM

Schedule
Mutants, hybrids, forest spirits, and biomass creatures assembled from the body parts of deceased animals.
Terjék Diána is creating her own monster mythology, and its newest characters are coming to the cable-organizing room at Nyolcésfél.
Her artistic practice focuses primarily on creature creation, imagining alien anatomies, and exploring the grotesque beauty of these beings.
Her main inspiration is nature itself, but she also draws heavily from Japanese kaiju culture, childhood anime, as well as the worlds of Lovecraft, Giger, and 1980s body horror.
In 2026, she began drawing monster portraits based on live models. So far this year, 54 people have been reborn as characters that are no longer quite human.
The NONHUMANS exhibition presents the newest additions to this personal bestiary through oil paintings. The exhibition also features all the monster portrait drawings created this year.
A selection of these creatures will also be featured in an accompanying publication.
The musical atmosphere will be provided by Fogl Márton Tér.
