Péter Bátonyi – art historian, historic preservation specialist
He graduated from Eötvös Loránd University, where he has since returned as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Art History to teach courses on various topics related to his field. He worked in the government from nearly the beginning of the NER—January 2013—until nearly the end—December 2024—though, of course, only in his professional capacity.

“I tried to salvage what I could in three ministries under three different ministers, so I came to know the mindsets of Pintér, Gulyás, and Lázár quite well. When I felt I could no longer bear the countless legal injustices and unfairness, I tried to take my revenge for all of this with a dramatic public outburst and spoke out about my experiences in front of Partizán’s cameras. The video was viewed by more than 800,000 people at the time. Afterward, I became a member of Tisza Sziget and worked in the professional working groups; upon request, I wrote the chapter on historic monuments for Tisza’s government program. Since then, I’ve been trying to return to my old-new position at the ministry. It will work out if an agreement is reached between me and the ministry to settle the labor dispute…”
