HAVE YOU GOT IT YET? - THE STORY OF SYD BARRETT AND PINK FLOYD

(Have You Got It Yet? - The Story of Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd | in English with Hungarian subtitles)

color, subtitled, English musical documentary, 95’, 2023

directed by Roddy Bogawa & Storm Thorgerson

The documentary chronicles the life, creative genius and mental decline of Pink Floyd founding member Syd Barrett, including his rise to psychedelic icon in the 1960s, his sudden departure from the band in 1968, and his subsequent retirement.

In addition to never-before-seen musical recordings and a fascinating visual world, the film also features David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters, among many others.

What sets this film apart from other Syd Barrett docs is that it is co-directed by Storm Thorgerson, who knew Syd from childhood and was there when they moved to London in the 60s.

The director asks important questions, offering another version of the facts, sometimes disagreeing, but always showing respect for the main character.

A must-have for any Syd Barrett or Pink Floyd fan: a touching tribute to one of the most talented and mysterious musicians of our time, a film that will stay with you long after the cast list.

„Syd's attitude is best exemplified by the incident where we rehearsed in the ballroom of a school in west London, and he taught us for hours one of his new songs, called Have You Got it Yet? he gave an address. He kept changing it, so every time we played the track, the chorus »No, no, no, no« always sounded at the wrong time. It was Syd's last, instinctive display of anger and frustration.” (NICK MASON)
