New Jazz From Finland | Timo Lassy Trio (FI)

Finnish saxophonist Timo Lassy’s current focus is on the Timo Lassy Trio, a group that creates music with a simple line-up but all the more intense expressiveness. Their work is underpinned by the dynamic interplay and musical bond between the three musicians. Their debut album, simply titled *Trio*, was released in 2021, followed in 2025 by the live recording *Live in Helsinki*, released by We Jazz Records. The ensemble blends groovy jazz, raw improvisation and emotional depth; their sound is rooted in tradition whilst boldly looking to the future. Lassy has previously won the EMMA Award – often referred to as the Finnish Grammy – in the Best Jazz Album of the Year category, as well as the Yrjö Award, the most prestigious accolade in Finnish jazz, for Jazz Musician of the Year.
