Central European Jazz Showcase | Deaf Platypus (CZ)
2026-05-29T18:00:00.000Z
The story of the Deaf Platypus septet began within the walls of the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague, which specializes in contemporary music, under the mentorship of saxophonist Jakub Doležal. At first, the band played covers in the fusion jazz style, which were eventually replaced by the members’ own compositions: their melodies evoke a humorous and innocent impression, but appearances can be deceiving, as the seven young musicians are just as fond of experimenting with complex rhythms and finely woven, almost neoclassical arrangements. At the heart of their work, however, remains improvisation faithful to the spirit of jazz.
