György Kovásznai’s cult animated film is an experimental musical for adults, featuring a bold style that radically defies the traditions of Hungarian animation.

Kovásznai’s first and only feature-length animated film presents a wild and surprising cavalcade of styles, ranging from 1920s Art Deco to 1960s psychedelia—one of the most peculiar, most personal, and at the same time most irresistible animated works ever made.

Kovásznai’s entire body of work—and *Habfürdő* in particular—has become indispensable over the past decades; younger generations of animators continually draw inspiration from the multifaceted artist’s style.

The film centers on a love triangle. Zsolt, a window-dresser with artistic ambitions, becomes uncertain on the day of his wedding and, on a sudden impulse, seeks out his fiancée’s long-lost friend, Anna Parádi, who is preparing for her fifth medical exam. He tries to persuade the surprised young woman to call Klára, his future bride, on his behalf and call off the entire wedding...
