Oláh Krisztián Quartet

Classical musical elements and compositional techniques, as well as the improvisational flow and abstract rhythms of contemporary jazz, form an important part of the music of the young pianist and composer, Krisztián Oláh. He strives to achieve the most organic connection and synthesis between these two musical worlds, with the aim of shaping a dynamic, vibrant contemporary musical landscape. His most important musical project, the Krisztián Oláh Quartet, uniquely combines composition and improvisation, creating harmony between these two worlds. The ensemble comprises leading figures from the Hungarian jazz, contemporary and alternative music scenes. Their programme is based on the bandleader’s own compositions, but as all the members are also superb improvisers, spontaneous and collective improvisation forms an integral part of the performance. This embodies the spirit and musical vocabulary of our times, thereby shaping a fresh and complex soundscape for the band.
