Kocs
Kocs is a small village in Komárom-Esztergom County, located southeast of Tata, at the foot of the Gerecse Hills. The name of the village is known worldwide, as it gave rise to the word "coach." In the Middle Ages, Kocs became famous for its innovative, spring-suspended carts, which were more comfortable than traditional wagons. These "kocsi" carts quickly spread across Europe, giving birth to the words coach (English), Kutsche (German), and coche (French).
Today, Kocs proudly preserves this heritage through memorials and cultural events. The village offers a peaceful rural atmosphere and serves as a great starting point for exploring the region’s natural beauty and historical landmarks.
