Eger

Eger is a major educational and cultural centre, home to one of Hungary's largest basilicas, the Cathedral Basilica of Eger, and many other famous monuments and museums, most notably the Eger Castle.

As the centre of the Eger wine region, it is one of the most important Hungarian wine towns, and the Egri bikavér is a wine variety known and recognised abroad.
