Klauzál Square Market

The Klauzál Square Market Hall was built on the site of a theatre destroyed by fire in 1897, when the capital, in a fever of building new market halls, opened five market squares. The once imposing structure, with three hundred stalls, was renovated for the first time since 1987, in 2015. At that time, the city authorities envisioned a hall with new functions and spaces: the last of the renovated buildings opened in October 2015. The main entrances to the building are still Klauzál tér and Akácfa utca, and the brand new gallery level is accessed by stairs, escalators or lifts. In addition to the artisan tables and refrigerated counters, there will be a wide range of caterers, fine food vendors, traditional craftsmen and service providers waiting to welcome customers every day of the week.
