Leonard Shelby (Guy Pearce) is driven by a single goal: to find the person who murdered and raped his wife, and to take revenge for her death. Leonard, however, suffers from a rare, incurable condition. He is amnesic and unable to remember newly acquired experiences. The only thing he is certain of is his desire for vengeance. His condition makes this task extremely difficult. Using Polaroid photos to document every step, and with the help of business cards, documents, and tattoos, he tries to piece together the fragments of his life and the brutal murder. The web of events becomes increasingly complex; everyone becomes suspicious, perhaps even Leonard himself. And the ultimate question remains: who is the killer?
