GUIDED TOUR IN ENGLISH OF THE EXHIBITION À LA RECHERCHE DE VERA MOLNAR - VERA MOLNAR'S WORKS AND CONTEMPORARY REFLECTIONS
The title of the exhibition refers to Vera Molnar's À la recherche de Paul Kleecímű series, recalling the artist's attempts to investigate the art historical precedents that have defined her through her own creative methods and tools. Like the narrator of Marcel Proust's novel À la recherche du temps perdu (In Search of Lost Time), Molnar was not interested in merely recalling the past, but in reinterpreting it in the context of the present.

In this spirit, one half of the two-part exhibition at the Ludwig Museum will look back at the defining chapters of Vera Molnar's career. The unique and reproduced series of prints and paintings on show, from the late 1960s to the present day, present the most important themes and groups of works from this extraordinary oeuvre, tracing the evolution of Molnar's systems of line and form. In the other half of the exhibition space, for the first time ever, a unique international group exhibition will pay tribute to the oeuvre through works by internationally renowned artists, with individual reflections, exploring its various layers of meaning and its influence and afterlife on contemporary art.

Ludwig Museum
