TILL BRÖNNER: IDENTITY - EUROPEAN VISION

2024-04-14T08:00:00.000Z  -  2024-08-25T08:00:00.000Z

Photographer and musician TILL BRÖNNER is a dedicated European artist of German origin. Raised in Italy, with strong ties to the German Rhineland and, as a trumpet player, to the music of North America, he has constantly sought his identity across many worlds. It is precisely this intercontinental existence that has made him aware of the global significance of Europe, and his photographic work emphasises this significance time and again. Whether it is portraits, landscapes, industrial landscapes or architecture, Brönner has been a sensitive observer for many years, documenting the diverse developments and social currents of his European homeland through the medium of fine art.

Europe today is facing a range of problems and crises, from war on its eastern fringes to one of the most influential regions in the world, and has been preoccupied with sensitive questions of its role and identity not only since the pandemic of the coronavirus. What separates us as a confederation of states? What unites us despite our great differences? Between gas pipelines and international agreements, dictatorships and democracies, economic and social policy or the burning questions of data protection and digitalisation, we must realise that it is, above all, people who shape and define Europe's identity. This project puts them at the centre.

The artist and the Stiftung für Kunst und Kultur e.V. have deliberately chosen Hungary as the venue for an exhibition whose content embodies - from a Hungarian perspective - a not insignificant tension between social and political reality. This in turn creates synergy effects for the joint work, which will strengthen the visibility of Identity - European Vision both locally and internationally.

Curator: Prof. Dr. Walter SMERLING

The exhibition is organised by Müpa Budapest and Ludwig Museum - Museum of Contemporary Art as part of the Bartók Spring International Art Weeks.
