Why did the joy of Slowness disappear? What can a man who longs for real pleasure, for physical encounter, do in a society that is fragmented to the extreme, under the spell of speed? This is the question that a mixed group of entomologists, television presenters, a politician, a typist, and Madame de T. from the eighteenth century and her adoring knight, gathered in a chateau in France, are searching for their own answers. Milan Kundera's novel of the same name, Slowness, interprets the story and the antecedents of a single adventurous night, with three love threads depicting the different stages and tempos of sensuality. Our performance is an attempt to visualise the accelerating slowness. The characters crash and bounce, humiliate, excite and seduce each other in the ecstasy of speed, while compulsively sharing with us their thoughts on Europeanism, the distorting gaze of the public, the philosophy of Epicurus, and above all, slutty pleasure.
