HÉT HAT CLUB

The band was born in the underground of Budapest, where art-punks from the ruin pubs, international nomads and dance-hall-going gypsies meet. HÉT HAT CLUB's street musicians have toured Europe, North, Central and South America. They have collected colourful rhythms and stylistic elements to bring back Hungarian and Carpatho-Balkan folk songs in a modern form. Kjartan Code - the American outlaw - sings in English, Hungarian, Romanian, Spanish and Turkish, along with his own lyrics. Their musical style is often referred to as: gyp-hop, maneleton, turbo folk jazz.

CONTRABAYANDO

This trio of musicians from Freetown, consisting of accordion, double bass and drums, has no secret intention of evoking the sound of classic French chansons, early jazz and gypsy swing tunes, tangos, rumbas, bossa nova, ballads and waltzes, and to reinterpret them in a subtle, authentic way. Their repertoire also includes well-known Balkan, klezmer and gypsy folk tunes. Their clean, restrained sound is complemented by a real bohemian musical language, so their concerts are always full of fun.

Location

A38 Ship

Converted from a coal-mining ship, the A38 is easily Budapest's most unique concert venue. The belly of the ship has been home to a wide range of live and electronic music for almost 20 years, and when it's full you can feel the rhythmic movement of the partygoers making waves in the Danube. Foreign acts often refer to it afterwards as their favourite club.
