Young Jeffrey Beaumont arrives in a seemingly peaceful and quiet small town. Walking through a field, he finds a severed human ear. He takes it to the police, but no one there has reported the missing ear. Jeff goes to the bar, where he is captivated by the singer's voice and beauty. It turns out that Dorothy is having a bizarre affair with Frank, a self-righteous local potentate. The evil man, who terrorises the town with his men, has kidnapped her baby son. So he blackmails her into granting his every wish. Jeff and well-meaning Sandy want to help Dorothy. A nightmarish adventure begins...
