Glissonic Trio
What happens if you cross a violin with a tárogató? The first member of the glissonic family of instruments, the glissotar, is born. This unique instrument is the invention of Dániel Váczi, who replaced the saxophone with this instrument in his trio, the Váczi Dániel Trio, formed in 2001.

The main new feature of the glissonic family is that instead of sound holes, the longitudinal slot across the sound and the magnetic strip covering it are used to control the pitch, so that glissandos and quarter notes can be played by sliding the finger, just like on a violin string. Dániel Váczi exploits the potential of the new instrument in his recently transformed trio. The bass has been replaced by a piano and an analogue synthesizer, which, in addition to the bass function, enriches the soundscape with harmonic and polyphonic structures under the direction of one of the most prominent Hungarian free jazz keyboardists, Máté Pozsár. On drums, Dániel Váczi's old bandmate Zsolt Sárvári Kovács continues to provide the solid foundations. Their repertoire consists of reinterpretations of some of the trio's old pieces, fresh compositions, improvisational concepts and radically reworked arrangements of classical music themes.
