The heat is unbearable in August 1972, when three young men plan to rob a Brooklyn bank branch. Sonny and his two partners plan to get through it quickly and easily, but nothing goes according to plan. The youngest gets out of the action just in time, but Sonny and Sal continue the operation. He needs the money for his friend's operation, but he has barely a thousand dollars in the till. The bank robbery turns into a hostage situation almost against their will. The police surround the building, and soon the media appear.
