Schedule

There are those who are expressly proud of their 'housing estate' origins - for them, any other environment smells less of life - and there are those who are deeply disgusted by the sight of prefabricated housing and are baffled by the fact that anyone can be a fan of this concrete jungle. In recent years, it has become even more fashionable to rediscover the panel in capital letters, most likely due to the Chernobyl series that ran a few years ago and the growing popularity of content on social networking sites promoting the modern architectural style of post-socialist countries.

For many people, the prefabricated house represented the hope of a new life in the socialist era.

But what is happening in housing estates today? And how do the young people who were born there, and for whom this small space is the centre of the world, feel about it?

Levente Temesvári, a former student at METU and now at MOME, seeks answers to these questions through the lens of the camera, while exploring his own neighbourhood and the people of his generation in it. He invites us on a panel tour as a credible guide, showing us around the colony (sic!) with his typical sloppy elegance.

The exhibition is on view until 6 August only.

Don't miss it !
