It can now be said that, with 27 member states, every 13 years Hungary has the opportunity to assert its will as President of the European Union, at least at the level of raising issues. In the first half of 2011, there was no official event in the Opera House, but now, on the national holiday of 23 October, it will be possible to host EU politicians and diplomats in one of the most frequented buildings in Hungary, amid music that can be used to build the Hungarian character as a whole - and from the era in which the cultural nation was built: from the reform era to Klebelsberg.
Hungarian State Opera
The Hungarian State Opera House is the only theatre in Hungary with a large company, specialising in operas and ballets. The building is one of Budapest's most important 19th century monuments. It was built in neo-Renaissance style according to the plans of Miklós Ybl. The richly decorated interior was designed by renowned Hungarian artists, including Mór Than, Károly Lotz and Bertalan Székely.
