Although one of the most successful Hungarian dramatic sopranos of recent decades, she studied at the Tchaikovsky Academy in Moscow, her legendary debut in the lead role of a February 1988 production of The Troubadour was her first operatic role at the Erkel Theatre, at the age of twenty. (Since then, Gyöngyi Lukács has had 266 performances and 28 roles on the stages of the Hungarian State Opera House in Hungary, but she has also toured all the great houses of international opera, also in leading roles. She made her debut abroad as Tosca, the "youngest Tosca in the history of Deutsche Oper", and even sang the role under Plácido Domingo in San Francisco. After 37 seasons since her debut, she will once again be presenting a selection of her most cherished memories and roles at her celebration evening, when she will be inviting an audience to hear her most personal reflections.
