Schedule

In Copenhagen Zoo in 2014, a young, healthy giraffe bull, Marius, was killed, dissected in front of a crowd of children, and then fed to the lions. Such trolling may never have happened in history. It has accordingly become as big a scandal as you might imagine. But why would anyone do such a thing? And why did the zoo say they would do it again any time, despite the scandal?

At the Yeti Cinema event at the end of August, you can first watch Péter Becz's super cool film about Marius' story, followed by a panel discussion on the highly divisive topic that will have you eating a pair of elephant sausages!

Date: 31 August (Saturday)

Venue: Bem Cinema (Budapest, Margit körút 5, 1027)

Programme:

18:00 - 18:30: screening of Missing you, Marius

18:30 - 19:30: round table discussion

Invited guests:

Péter Becz, director of the film

Zoltán Hanga, spokesman of the Budapest Zoo and Botanical Garden

András Lányi, writer, philosopher, film director

Katalin Rodics, research biologist, conservation expert for Greenpeace

Moderator: László Szily, journalist of 444

Location

Bem Cinema

In January 2016, the 108-year-old Bem Cinema will reopen its doors to the public, in a new way never seen before in Hungary: as a cinema of cult and classic films (no harm!), or as the educated French say (if you know your English): as a "repertory cinema".
