Schedule
Tamás Konok’s exhibition (1930-2020) at Ani Molnár Gallery discusses the recently deceased non-figurative artist based on his architectural, structural thinking and in accordance with his international rank. Konok is often falsely regarded as a mere constructivist or a concrete artist. For him, it was not the question of respecting geometry itself or the image construction that mattered, instead he delved into the operation of the world. The aim of understanding and sharing the structure of the world and of a traditional image could be highlighted as key element of Konok’s ars poetica. Konok’s paternal heritage or attitude as an architect did not concretize in the emphasis on constructions, instead in an image version of the architectural/structural appearance of the interferences and relationships of the world, such as between objects or spaces. In essence, the choice among the specific branches of the non-figurative form language (e.g. constructive composition, organic abstraction) is a tool for the analysis of the operation of the concrete matter.
Disclaimer: The tour is Hungarian only, but English-language exhibition descriptions are available in the gallery.
