St Michael's Day in Füzér Castle 2024
On 28 September 2024, for the fourteenth time, visitors are invited to the castle of Füzér to celebrate St Michael's Day.
The event starts at 10 am.

On St Michael's Day, the daily life of the Middle Ages is brought to life on the top of Castle Hill.
A war tournament, special guided tours and other interesting activities will make this an exceptional occasion.

September is known as the month of St. Michael, according to the popular calendar. According to Christian tradition, Saint Michael is one of the seven archangels or archangels. He is usually depicted in artistic works in battle dress, with a sword, shield and helmet, with the defeated dragon at his feet. In Hungarian folklore, St. Michael stands by the side of the dying, accompanying the souls to the afterlife. The name of St. Michael's horse, which refers to the Göncölszekér, is linked to this phenomenon. One of the medieval names of the Milky Way is the Way of St Michael.
From St. Michael's Day the time of the carnival began, which lasted until Catherine's Day. It was the season of weddings and balls. Animals driven out on St. George's Day were herded back on this day, and shepherds were accounted for and paid.
The St George's fairs were remembered throughout the country as a place where fairgoers could not only buy the goods they needed, but also have fun and meet people.

Füzér
Füzér (Slovak: Fizér) is a village in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, in the district of Sátoraljaújhely. It is the northernmost border point of Hungary.[4] One of the centres of tourism in the Hegyköz, Füzér Castle is one of the most outstanding sights.
