SENKWAVES FEST: DIE SELEKTION (DE) + NNHMN (DE) + POSITION PARALLÈLE (FR) + SYDNEY VALETTE (FR)

Roughly a year after last October's (first) SenkWaves Night, we are returning levelled up: with a four-band, "all headliners" (mini)festival, to spoil you once more. The event’s performers come from the electronic side of the styles we represent: minimal synth/minimal wave, darkwave, coldwave, and their EBM-infused side branch ("wave body music"). This evening marks the Hungarian debut for all but one of them.

Die Selektion

Following last autumn's overwhelming concert in Auróra, Stuttgart's Die Selektion returns to Budapest, this time to present their frenzied Prosecco Wave/EBM show accompanied by trumpets at a bigger event, in front of a larger audience. Their latest record, Zeuge aus Licht, released in September 2023, was one of the best releases of last year, and was performed with great success around the world in the past year. As the final stop of their intense "world" (European and North American) tour, they will also be wrecking the stage here with their charismatic performance, and making the audience dance with their irresistible music.

NNHMN

Through many years of hard work, excellent releases and captivating concerts, Berlin-based NNHMN has grown into one of the defining bands of the dark electronic underground scene. Their magical combination of minimal synth/darkwave/dark disco/EBM, and at times even hints of industrial techno, delivered flawlessly both on records and performed live, has made them favourites of concert stages and festivals, proving every single time that it’s not undeserved. They never disappoint their gradually growing fan base, self-indulgent dancing and frenzy are always inevitable.

Position Parallèle

Paris-based Position Parallèle is one of the most significant, pioneering bands of the new wave of French electronic coldwave/minimal synth music. Since their first album released in 2008 they have been delivering top-notch releases, in reliable quality, and on the rare occasion of a concert, an overwhelming mixture of cool French elegance and sensuality radiates from the stage. They may not be as well-known as some other acts that started later, but their influence and importance are unquestionable – also for us: they played a significant role in the creation of SenkWaves by channeling our interest towards this direction.

Sydney Valette

Sydney Valette, another Parisian, is also a veteran of the new wave of the French dark electronic underground, he has been releasing music since 2011. After his rawer-sounding earlier albums, the real breakthrough came with the LPs Fight Back (2018), and, even more so, with How Many Lives? (2019), and his powerfully dynamic performances and captivating stage persona have pushed him to the forefront of the style. His music confidently mixes and fuses the styles of minimal synth, darkwave, synthpunk, EBM and synthpop, and crowned with his characteristic, instantly recognizable vocals, the end result becomes unmistakable. An experience you do not want to miss.
