Museums across the country are welcoming families to the Autumn Festival of Museums with music, art, excursions and photo exhibitions. The weekend's programme of activities is organised by school community service (CSS) students. Welcome!

Animal good show

On the occasion of World Animal Day, families are invited to the Hungarian Museum of Natural History on 9 October for educational presentations, a petting zoo and a concert by the MintaPinty Orchestra. As an accompanying programme, the MTM Cinema Kids will feature an animal-themed animated film screening for children in the Andor Semsey Hall.

The Roman heritage of Óbuda

The Aquincum Museum will take visitors on an exciting walk through the area of the former Aquincum, now Óbuda. The walk on 9 October will focus on the area of the city centre, not only on the familiar Roman monuments that can still be seen today, but also on the hidden buildings that are still hidden from view. Music of joy of course

The Zsigmond Széchenyi Széchenyi Hungarian Hunting Museum in Hatvan offers an interactive exhibition for families. Visitors can see and play instruments made of bone, wood and other natural materials.

Backpacking and storytelling at the Mészöly farm

The staff of the Mór Wosinsky County Museum will welcome families on the morning of 9 October with a storytelling morning and a craft activity. Off to Szekszárd, off to the Porkoláb Valley!

Handicrafts

The first of a new series of workshops at the Pannonia Reformata Museum in Pápa will introduce participants to basket weaving. Under the guidance of master basket weaver Tamás Dávid, adults and older children can make baskets from willow wicker and peddignad. The 9 October programme is open to all by registration.

Roadside Crosses in Kalocsa

If the whole family loves cycling and you would like to learn about the stories of the crosses of Kalocsa, this is the programme for you! Come to the Viski Károly Museum in Kalocsa and join the bike ride through Kalocsa on 16 October from 10:00 am. During the free sightseeing tour, we will also stop for a delicious snack and refreshments along the way. The programme is open to all ages at any time of the day. Register Oct.
