🔹ABSOLUT "THE OTHER HALF" EXHIBITION AT HENGERMALOM🔹
He adored its form, poured its contents over him like perfume, regarded it like a muse: the relationship between Andy Warhol and Absolut vodka is a long, passionate story. In the 1980s, the iconic genius painter dedicated two paintings to his beloved drink. The second, Absolut "Blue", rediscovered in 2020, will be on show to the European public for the first time this October.
To celebrate the occasion, Absolut has adapted the iconic nude blue painting for a limited edition bottle and, as part of the art project THE OTHER HALF, has invited young local artists from the online gallery YOUNGART to "complement" the original work by taking Warhol's painting further and creating something new in their own style and personality, thus entering into a dialogue with the 96-year-old artist. THE OTHER HALF will be complemented by light installations evoking Warhol, thanks to the INOTA Festival's light art curators - inspired by famous works such as Silver Clouds. All of this will be on display in Budapest's temporary cultural venue, the Buda Hengermalom's rustic space, open until 19 October!

The exhibiting artists of youngart:
🔹 MixedFlo: graduated in 2021 from Budapest Metropolitan University, Faculty of Fine Arts, street art artist and visual artist. His work generates dialogue about global, social, intra- and interpersonal situations and crises that require acceptance of self and others to solve.
🔹 Balázs Mucsi: Artist and visual designer. Technological development, overproduction, environmental pollution and consumerism are common themes in his paintings and graphics. His paintings generally seek to address universal problems and issues that transcend the personal.
🔹 Réka Csorba. The starting point of her formal representation is the animal and plant symbols used in classical art. His aim is to represent and process these in a new way, to give them a new dimension.
🔹 Péter Jakab Szőke: Painter, in his works the lived and desired experiences are put on canvas, based on free gestures and plays. Péter Jakab Szőke's painting technique has evolved in his own way: he uses acrylic, ink and felt for the base layers, and oil paint for the figures, the brush-outs and the loosening. He also produces numbered giclée prints of his paintings, mainly on stretched canvas, in limited editions.

This year, from 11 to 19 October 2024, the HENGERMALOM will be experimentally brought to life by the Valyo - City and River Association. The event, called EXPLORATION, is an important milestone in the temporary community use of the HENGERMALOM. During the event, you will have the opportunity to visit the special spaces of the Hengermalom, take part in community, cultural, gastronomic and professional activities organised by Valyo and its partners, and implement your own ideas.
