Guided Tour on Tünde Fülöp exhibition 'Textile-study'

For textile artist Tünde Fülöp, material is meaning of cognition and understanding. The in-depth process of weaving not only creates visually stunning textile works, but also adds a special intimate atmosphere. The works are the medium of a transcendental negotiation between the artist, the recipient and a higher power that lurks in between. A multitude of rhythmically shifting colours, lights and materials set the fabrics in motion. A continuous flow of interlocking threads of words and thoughts intersect on the surfaces of the works. Each holds a unique secret behind the familiar weaving patterns.

The works on display are made using felt and video tape, which may sound like an unusual pairing. Felt, which has a history stretching back thousands of years and is still used today in many different ways. And the video tape, which despite dominating our past century it has became outdated. These two unusual materials are meeting in the tradition of weaving. In this way, the duality of unbreakable timelessness and fragile transience can intertwine.

Tünde Fülöp's working method is reflecting to the experimental spirit of the Bauhaus masters, who really wanted to cross the boundaries of their techniques and present them from a new perspective.

During the guided tour, the visitors will have the opportunity to discover new perspectives and to learn about the unique relationship between the artist and her technique.

You can visit the exhibition from 17th of October to 15th of November during the Gallery's opening hours.
