The lecture will present the most important local events and actors of the period (1957-1974) covered in the book The Beat Era and its Precedents in Hódmezővásárhely, published in the summer of 2024, while trying to give a sense of the place of the Csongrád County settlement on the map of popular music in Hungary.
The author also tries to emphasise the factors that influenced the local development of youth culture (aspects of the history of mentality, the local cultural and hospitality institutions). The rich recollections of interviews conducted during the research for the book and the photographs provided colour the event and music history data.
