Vardis Kucha (Rose Street) is named after a small street in Budapest, where the band was founded and has been rehearsing ever since. Our aim is to introduce the folk music traditions and values of the fabulous Caucasian country Georgia to the Hungarian audience.
The majority of our repertoire consists of Georgian polyphonic folk songs dating back to ancient times, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage of Ethnology, but more modern, urban folk and instrumental folk music also play a major role in our concerts. In addition, the programme includes Georgian Orthodox folk songs, which, with their centuries-old history and still active tradition, form a bridge between the past and the present.

The word gașcă means company, band. We have known each other for a long time, we were brought together by the love of playing music together and by friendship. The core of our repertoire is Moldavian melodies. We insist on the original forms and the liveliness of the music, which is why we also shape it in our own image. In our Budapest dance houses we evoke the joy of the old times, we want to know, live and authentically reproduce our folk music traditions.
