Jumping Matt and his Combo
Mátyás Pribojszki, aka Jumping Matt, is one of the best known Hungarian harmonica players, singers and songwriters, who has toured Europe solo and with various formations, and is still one of the most active Hungarian performers. He emerged in the 1990s as a member of the Blues Fools, and later became one of the most prominent figures on the Hungarian blues scene with his band Jumping Matt & His Combo.
After a six-year hiatus, he and his band are back with a new album, Forward, which will be presented at the House of Music.
Schedule
Mátyás Pribojszki's unique musical style is hard to narrow down to a specific genre, but it is basically a cheerful, positive, quality live music full of improvisations, with elements of blues, swing, boogie-woogie and rock and roll, all spiced up with soul, jazz and funky feelings. The band has been present on the national and international music scene for more than 30 years, during which time it has released 16 albums and several DVDs with its various formations, as well as numerous educational materials, live music videos and official music videos. In addition to numerous successful performances in Hungary and internationally, Mátyás Pribojszki received the highest level of recognition at the 1997 World Harmonica Championships in Germany, one of the highest international accolades from a professional jury of the world's best, and after 12 years, in October 2009, he was one of the invited judges and performing artists at the World Harmonica Championships in Trossingen. Since 2009, he is the official endorser and international ambassador of the German harmonica manufacturer HOHNER.
Mátyás Pribojszki and his orchestra have been invited as guest and opening band at international festivals on several occasions, including performances for former Rolling Stones member Bill Wyman and the Rhythm Kings, Vaya Con Dios, John Cleary, Ruthie Foster and most recently for legendary world star Sir Tom Jones, which was so successful and so well received by Tom Jones and his band that the world star invited Mátyás Pribojszki to join them for a joint performance, a great honour, as it was unheard of on previous Tom Jones tours. With their latest album Dressed up, they have once again managed to attract the attention of the international music press, with interview requests from BBC2 to Blues Blast Magazine and numerous positive reviews in European and American magazines. Jumping Matt & His Combo have also been included in the list of "The Top 200 Blues Albums of the Past 20 years", published in 2020 by Blues Junction Productions in the US, with 2 of their albums (My Stories - 2016, Dressed up - 2018).
