Emese's dream tells the story of a young woman who works for a news channel and loses touch with reality after an unwanted pregnancy. In the end, she builds her own reality, making a home for herself in a world without a home, in the saga of the ancient Hungarian beliefs.
What can happen to a member of society who is reminded every day that he or she does not belong in the community? What can a profoundly wounded person do when he or she is severely shaken and has no one to turn to?
The monodrama, while capturing the Hungarian public mood of today, offers an insight into the journey of a young girl of colour in search of identity in Hungary today.
Emese Kárász and Dorottya Farkas graduated from the Freeszfe Association's Theatre Making class, Ella Fazekas is studying community theatre at the same institution and Szandi Vass studied theatre dramaturgy at the SZFE. The production's music is composed by Gabó Erményi, a student of electronic and applied composition at the Liszt Academy. Maja Kamuthy and Kata Dézsi are collaborating in the creation of the visual world. Papa Lengyel Ákos Lengyel is responsible for the technical realisation.
The story of Emese is neither a fairy tale nor a dream, but a contemporary reality. It is a portrait of a woman, of a society.
