THE HERZOG FILM CLUB CONTINUES IN THE THREE RAVENS!

After Michael Haneke's systematic analysis of the rum, the new season will feature WERNER HERZOG. We bring you a special selection from the filmography of this prolific German director, looking at documentaries and feature films, on a wide variety of subjects, but in chronological order. After the screenings, we'll have a short ventilation where we'll try to discuss together what we saw on the screen. In the new season, our country's titular Herzog expert, Pál Gerdesitsits, will be with us.

Schedule

The third in the series will be a screening of one of the director's early costume features, 1974's Kaspar Hauser. The film (originally entitled Jeder für sich und Gott gegen alle - Everyone for himself and God against everyone) is based on a true story. On Pentecost Monday, 28 May 1828, a young man who could barely walk or talk was found in a back street in Nuremberg. He had nothing on him except an anonymous letter with his date of birth. It later emerged that Kaspar had been kept in a small, dark cave, isolated from light and people, for 12 years by an unknown man, and then suddenly thrown out into the open. Herzog's extraordinary film stars the mentally handicapped Bruno Schleinstein, whose life bears an uncanny resemblance to Kaspar's.
