Mr R. is a technical draftsman in an architectural office. His life is orderly and consolidated in all respects. He seems happy and content. But one day he runs amok... "Mr R has a wife and children, his family has a flat and a car. Mr R does his job to the best of his ability and does everything he can for his family. Mr. R. likes to reminisce with old friends, listen to romantic songs with his wife and help his son with his studies. Mr. R. must be really satisfied with his life. The only problem is that some people sometimes won't let him." (Bence Bíró)
The performance seeks to answer the "why" of the title, exploring the responsibility of the wider and narrower environment: what is happening in the world and what are the barriers to human happiness within and around us. The production has no built-in set, is easily travelled, can be performed in any space, and the scenery is defined by Zita Schnabel's imaginative and inventive costumes.

The Örkény István Theatre is an independent repertory theatre and one of the most important theatres in the country. Örkény is primarily a prose drama theatre, but our theatre is open to a wide variety of genres. Our repertoire has included more than a hundred works, from antiquity to contemporary works. Regardless of genre, we see the meaning of our work in our choice of high literature, in our careful rehearsals, in our openness to public issues, in our love of humour, grotesque and the many shades of irony. Our ten-year-old theatre education programme was one of the first in Hungary to open up a new channel for active, community-building engagement with audiences.
