Lisa Vereertbrugghen – CAMPO (BE): While We Are Here

2025-02-27T19:00:00.000Z

What does it mean to move together; to move together past and present, body and mind?

Dance is fundamentally a communal form. Rave parties have always existed, even if they were called something else. In While We Are Here, Belgian dancer and choreographer Lisa Vereertbrugghen explores the timeless human desire for intense movement together. She has invited Claire Godsmark, Dolores Hulan, Eimi Leggett and Castélie Yalombo Lilonge to practice folk dances celebrating joy and socialising alongside hardcore rave.

By juxtaposing styles, one form draws inspiration from another, resulting in a very lively techno-folk hybrid dance.

While We Are Here is a timeless ode to the 'here and now', a celebration of joy, sharing and solidarity: spiralling and circling together, only to then look at the present in a slightly different way, perhaps.
