Ternovszky Béla: Macskafogó (1986)
2025-02-10T18:00:00.000Z
This film needs little introduction for Hungarian audiences, yet it’s always well worth a rewatch. Not only thanks to the richly detailed animated world that brings us one joke after another, but also because what you are watching truly is a masterpiece. It is Cat City’s greatest fortune – or misfortune – that the world has not changed all that much. The parodied Star Wars movies, James Bond thrillers and vampire films are still enjoying their heyday, while a more polarised world is increasingly a part of our everyday lives. Not to mention the fact that the group Manhattan Transfer, who inspired the song Négy gengszter (Four Gangsters), performed at the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall not so many moons ago!
