Our guest, György Frank, PhD student of the BME Department of Theoretical Physics, will present his animations illustrating physical phenomena: https://www.youtube.com/@gyorgyfrank.

The sessions are led by mathematician Gergő Pintér. He teaches and practices maths at all levels. He holds a PhD in topology and singularity theory and is currently working with a physics research group on topological properties of quantum systems. He is mainly interested in the interconnections between different fields, and has created the MateMorphosis lecture series as an entertaining festival of "higher" mathematics. His first book, Creating New Worlds, is available at https://www.typotex.hu/.../pinter_gergo_uj_vilagok_teremtese.

His latest book is the stereotypical family drama The Hidden Building Blocks of Numbers: the Primes, just published in Libri's Kaleidoscope Books series: https://www.libri.hu/.../pinter_gergo.a-szamok-rejtett...

Themes for the sessions:

- Dobble: designing a deck of cards using infinite distance points

- Higher dimensions and self-reversing spaces

- Travelling between dimensions: what kind of space does a quantum bit live in?

- The music that is in the sound itself - a musical scale of overtones

- Ultrabarkochba - Feel free to ask, I have a consistent answer for everything! But have I thought of anything?

- Locking websites: from prime numbers to open key encryption

- Common knowledge, or what's the point of saying in public something that everyone knows?

The events are also part of an elective course in Popular Mathematics at ELTE.

The course can be taken by students of any major.
