Barber – Ives – Glass – Bernstein – Gershwin – Williams: ARANYKOR: AMERIKAI SZÉPSÉG

2025-05-18T17:00:00.000Z

Symphonic concert

Length of the performance: 2 hours with 1 break.

This unmissable concert of the Angol100 thematic season looks at a brief history of music in the United States, with shorter works to give a broader horizon. Samuel Barber's two meditative works bring the intellectual plane of American music closer, and Dover Beach does so through the poetry of an English poet. Charles Ives is a pioneer of modern and intimate American music, and so is Philip Glass, only in his own repetitive minimalist way. The second half of the evening is all about glamorous and theatrical America: jazz from the local to Broadway to Hollywood. The conductor, US-born Paul Connelly, also has a long-standing friendship with OPERA's ballet company and orchestra, and under his baton an authentic American performance can be created.
