"The number in the title of my exhibition is a round, yet slightly restless, exciting number, seventy needs no special explanation: it is the number of years I have lived.
This exhibition, this jubilee event, is a great pleasure for me.
It gives me the opportunity to show some of my most recent works and a very narrow, retrospective selection of my earlier works, which for some reason I consider to be important milestones for me.
The show is not a big retrospective of my professional past, but rather a chamber show focusing on the present and being on the move. I confess that it is a much more appealing format for me and more to my taste than a so-called "life's work" exhibition would be...
It is a snapshot, not a panoramic panorama.
The title, REBBENÉS, also brings to mind some subtle movement, a wave of the hand, a flap of the wing, a wall moved by the breeze... The way things happen naturally, the way the succession of movements measures time.
