Swiss electronic musician and composer Gaudenz Badrutt, saxophonist Jean-Luc Guionnet, who once studied with Xenakis, and violist Frantz Loriot met at the "Joyful Noise" festival in Badrutt's hometown of Biel, which brought together some of the most exciting players in European electro-acoustic improvisation in 2018.

Very quickly, they managed to find a unique sound, both formally and sonically, that could combine the fundamentally different musical aesthetics of the three musicians - from experimental electronica to fully acoustic improvisation.

In the music of their trio, Tetrao Tetrix, or grouse, the interplay of three instruments with very different histories fills the barren, uncharted frontiers of the audible world with colour and life, just as much as it did when their eponymous bird was in the throes of drought.

After their trio concert last week, this evening the members will play three solos separately!
