NEQ - Nagy Emma Quintet

Artisjus award-winning Emma Nagy Quintet is the new generation of modern, contemporary jazz. The band, celebrating its sixth birthday this year, has come a long way in a short time. In addition to many concerts in their home country, they have played competitions and festivals in Italy, Poland, Spain and Slovakia.

Although the five members differ in many ways, it was clear from the very beginning that they are able to work successfully as a unit... An important factor in shaping their sound is their experimental spirit, with equal weight given to hard drum grooves, free improvisations, contemporary compositions in song form and other unique solutions. This diversity is not for its own sake, but for the sake of taking the orchestra on stage to the deepest possible layers of chamber music. Contrasts and dissonance, improvisation and diversity, joy and spleen, a sense of contemporary life and a grotesque, raw formulation, behind which a kind of dreamlike charm shines through.

After the debut Set to face (2018, author's edition) and Low frequency oscillator (2020, Sinistra), their third album Synced was released in spring 2022 on the prestigious Swiss label Unit Records, and the material was presented at the newly opened Hungarian Music House in March, where Márton Fenyvesi (who also participated in the work as a producer) and Kornél Fekete Kovács were the band's guests.
