Ratko Zjaca Triology (CR/CU)

Guitarist-composer Ratko Zjaca is known in many genres and as a contributor to countless international albums, but his best-known projects are in the field of modern jazz and improvisation, where he can unfold his individual and crafted musical world, ranging from intimate silence to searing intensity. His recently formed Triology, in which he performs original compositions with Cuban-born double bassist Roland Abreu, who has found a second home in Europe, and his long-time collaborator, drummer Jože Zadravec, is part of this line of work. In their hands, what seems to be a classic line-up becomes a source of astonishing sonic and instrumental solutions, in which ideas overlap, but enthusiasm and passion never for a moment take over as the driving force behind the compositions.
