Get me in plural! Discover the community power of digital art!
The exhibition showcases the works of international and local artists, superstars and pioneers on an ever-changing digital canvas at the Crystal Theatre on Margaret Island. The art exhibition sheds new light on the relationship between technology and democracy on the 150th anniversary of the unification of Buda, Pest and Óbuda.
The Biennale will provide an opportunity to explore the colourful and rich world of digital art practices, to experience different aesthetics and creative techniques. The Biennale will also offer a historical perspective on this rapidly changing corner of digital art, presenting a mix of moving image works by avant-garde pioneers and contemporary artists experimenting with the latest technologies, shedding light on the interconnections between art, creativity, technology and social change.
The collection reflects on the metacrisis of our times, and the role and responsibility of artists in society. Accordingly, BINALÉ is subtitled "QUEERING DEMOCRACY", which offers an opportunity to examine and rethink democratic values, asking how digital art can support or critically enrich social missions and community value systems. In homage to the city's 150th anniversary, digital artworks, data visualisations and generative artworks that link provocative questions to the democratic or anti-democratic fabric of Budapest are invited. With the exhibition and its accompanying programmes, BINÁLÉ opens a dialogue on the relationship between the city, the future and technology, on the urban dimensions of access and exclusion.
Kristály Cultural & Conference Venue
Budapest city’s newest cultural, gastro and community space was born in the heart of the Margaret-island which is located in the completely renovated building of the former mineral water bottler factory. It is a scene for exciting art cult productions (eg. theatre, dance, concert, children activities) for sports fans and people seeking health-conscious life. Kristály is an innovative, cool, informal place where you can build a community and which “connects and recreates people”.
