What is a risograph or rhizograph?

A risograph is a stencil-based printing technique of Japanese origin that sits on the border between the digital and analogue worlds. The technique has been used since the 1980s, mainly for fanzines, posters and publications. The machine works on a principle similar to screen printing: each colour is applied to the paper through a separate ‘mask’, so that the layers may slip slightly. The intensive inks are soy-based, making them more environmentally friendly than most forms of printing.

Who are DRUKKER?

The DRUKKER Community Print Workshop is a creative group from Pécs, active since 2018, with a letterpress, screen printing, rhizograph and bookbinding workshop, as well as an analogue photo lab. Its members all work with a unique artistic approach in the joint workshop using analogue printing, binding and photographic techniques. As an NGO we often collaborate with other associations and artists in response to current professional and social situations.
