Women at the border
For the first time, the KV Company has taken on a classical work; based on the ancient text, it has created a contemporary performance about the vulnerability of women and how to solve a crisis situation today.
Together with director Balázs Czukor, with whom they collaborated for the second time after their award-winning production of In Dependence, they set the drama in a frame story; the story of Medea unfolds through role-playing in a group therapy session.

Role-playing gives the opportunity to run two threads in parallel; the fate and lives of the members of the therapy group and the characters they play in the play, which at a certain point merge into one another. The interplay of these two threads helped to make the KVT company's Medea a truly contemporary story; a story about the options available to a woman in crisis today. And also to show the extremes of this crisis situation, right down to the idea of revenge, of infanticide. The staging of infanticide was helped by the fact that in our performance, Medea's children were brought to life by puppets.
Playing with gender roles and breaking down traditional gender roles is an important theme in the company's performances; Medea, in which all the roles in the play are played by 4 women, is also an important stage in this search. On the one hand, this can be interpreted as an inversion of classical Greek theatre casting, and on the other hand, it is precisely the transgender truth of each character that is strengthened and made tangible.
"An ancient drama of fate and a contemporary tragicomedy are born at the same time, and in both...there is the timeless flood of questions crying out for answers - with the squeezing, struggling, pleading for answers, understanding, acceptance and acceptance of Medea at the centre...the question is not, then, that this is what women are like? - but is it that we would be like that? Well, that's how we are. Because the real murder is to deny ourselves the expression of our own honest feelings. And we are so lucky to have 4 women playing this for us..."
Jurányi House
The Jurányi Production Community Incubator House has become a key venue in the capital's cultural life, a vibrant hub of the contemporary art scene.
Our aim in creating the Jurányi was to find a stable, shared home for the independent theatre and creative arts sector, providing the infrastructure necessary for its day-to-day operations. We wanted to create a cultural centre in the Buda area, a "contemporary art house" where theatre-loving young people could spend a few hours over a coffee or even a theatre performance, a creative children's activity or an acrobatic movement class, thus re-filling the abandoned educational institution with an active community life.
Jurányi is more than just a theatre in Buda, it is a creative and creative base where visitors can enjoy a varied artistic, community, and educational program, in addition to a regular repertoire of 300 productions a year. We are proud that the Jurányi House is now a graduation subject in some art schools.
