Schedule

Between the two world wars, the fashion salons in Budapest looked to Paris as a model. After the end of the Monarchy, the tailors of Pest did their best to keep in touch - and keep pace - with the French. The Great Depression put its stamp on the turn of the twenties and thirties, but the following years saw a boom. Actresses, prima donnas and film stars played an important role in spreading fashion. Even then, there were unwritten rules about what was appropriate for different occasions and fashion trends changed from year to year. Women's roles were constantly changing, more and more women were working, playing sports, travelling and tourism were popular. All this can be traced in the changes in fashion.
