Schedule

The exhibition The Art of Life offers glimpses into the world of bourgeois homes, the nightlife of the turn of the century, the atmosphere of coffee houses, urban women’s fashion and customs, as well as popular leisure activities of the time, such as cycling, visiting spas, or attending dazzling balls. One of the central motifs of posters is the woman, appearing in a wide variety of roles—from the self-confident cosmopolitan lady to the ethereal muse.

Join writer and art historian Rita Halász to explore how women were depicted at the turn of the century! During the guided tour, we will see how women became iconic figures in advertisements, how posters reflected contemporary female roles, and what kinds of social changes they foreshadowed.
