This bold, contemporary, experimental musical radically broke with the tradition of Hungarian animated films for children based on classic literary works, which began with János vitéz (1973) and Lúdas Matyi (1976). This film, intended for an adult audience, depicts a love triangle set in downtown Budapest. Through the characters' dissatisfaction with their social situation, it portrays the disillusionment of the young generation of the 1970s in an entertaining, grotesque way and, through its documentary-style solutions, with a sociographic ambition.

The characters are based on real models, but their movements range from realism to complete abstraction, a style that Kovásznai had developed in his earlier short films. Kovásznai achieved a documentary effect by applying animated social reports based on real interview recordings to the fictional fabric of the film, which were made in the waiting room of a real mother and baby care center. According to the film's subtitle, it is a "musical trick film to make your heart beat faster." The insert songs were composed by the young János Másik, who made his debut as a film composer at that time.

György Kovásznai has been making unique films since 1963. His animated short films, with their boldly expressive graphics and experimental soundscapes, broke with the genre traditions common in Hungary, according to which animated films must be fantasy-based fairy tales primarily intended for entertainment, or caricatured gag films built on punchlines. With a method he called "anima verité," he sought to translate the live-action camera work that documented the surrounding reality into the language of visual art. In addition to his short films, his cultural history television series Ez csak divat! (1973), which also used reportage footage, preceded his first and only feature-length film, Habfürdő.
